Helllooooo, peoples!

The first Saturday in May is comin’ up, and that can only mean two things:

1) The weather is getting nicer and more people will be out an’ about, therefore increasing the chances of spreading the dreaded Swine Flu! [puts on surgical mask]

and

2) FREE COMIC BOOK DAY!!!

WHAT: FREE COMICS!! We’re talkin’ WOLVERINE, STAR WARS, GREEN LANTERN: BLACKEST NIGHT (oooh, scary!), SIMPSONS, ALIENS/PREDATOR, AVENGERS, TRANSFORMERS/GI JOE, and some other jawns you probably wouldn’t normally care about but will take for free
WHO: [in my best Gary Oldman voice:] EVERRYYOOONNNE!!!!!!

Except for new-this-month items, EVERYTHING will be 50% OFF!!! Yes, that means wall books. Yes, that means statues. Hardcover books? Yup. How’bout the swee Silver Surfer T-shirt in XXXL? The answer, my incredibly large friend, is YES.

And even MORE impressively: We’re opening up the basement inventory — all comics down there will be discounted to only 99 CENTS each!!!

GRAB BAGS!! Five bucks a piece, and WHO KNOWS what you’ll get in there! All I can say is that it probably won’t be edible. Any more.

Also: Meet Marvel Comics artist DENNIS CALERO (X-Men: Noir, X-Factor) from 10am – 2pm — I’m sure he’ll be happy to sign any of his works, as long as you say please, or if you shine his shoes.
(I should get a shoe-shine — can sneakers even BE shined? I’ll hafta ask Dennis…)
